But, there are currently too many critical (for me) bugs. It is a brilliant concept, and with the programming and programming philosophy background I have (including C+), as an OO-based app, it makes complete sense. The biggest problem I have is adapting FROM Pro Tools to Logic. "Glor-ah be, she could not be talkin 'bout Logic NOT being good for composing, could she?" Uh, yeah. I am in a similar pinch, but for composing. Good luck with latency without an external solution. I almost grabbed an I/O just to have M-Powered, but there is too much missing for it to work for me over what I can do with LE (no DVT2, so no expanded Import Session Data featureset, which, among a dozen other things, is vital). People pay me to do this stuff, I can't justify anything that slows me down. I can't comp record more than 1 track at once without strange behaviour (this may be corrected soon?), I can't run multiple overlapping edit groups, punching is a nightmare, I can't edit drums efficiently (I don't like to anyways, but that's part of the gig), and my girlfriend is getting pissed at me borrowing her Mbox whenever I need BD. I will continue to use Logic to mix, as it gives me the full 24 tracks that my rig allows, its automation is good, and the mix engine is forgiving of the crazy bussing I sometimes get into. ![]() Assuming it's stable and not super latent, I'll be good to go. This thing will (for a total of about $700 for software and hardware) allow me to run 16 tracks of real converters into and out of PT M-powered. I was gonna mortgage my kids (relax, they're all feline as yet) for an HD1 card, until I found this: Much as I hate to say it, I think PT is a better application for me. I rarely use software instruments, I don't score, I don't 'beatmap' or 'master', I don't run complex MIDI environments, loops, or samplers, I rarely even use dynamics or FX plugs until I run out of outboard. I use a DAW like a multitrack tape deck, and I want to be able to use it like one with little continued attention (there are many other things that I consider much more important, from microphones to cue mixes). ![]() This has not proven to be the case, although the price of finding out was pretty painless, LOL. I was waiting for L8, hoping that it would improve my situation, and at first I thought it would. I'm going to stop tracking and editing in Logic. |
